Handicapper's Corner: 2025 Belmont Stakes Consensus

         The Test of Two Champions

The Grade 1 Belmont Stakes is usually a 1 1/2 mile test of stamina and speed, arriving at the end of a grueling season of Triple Crown trail graded stakes races. However, the contest was shortened for the second time to 1 1/4 miles around Saratoga’s historic oval.

The Belmont Stakes includes leg-weary runners from the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, plus later-maturing newcomers

Rain looms once more, setting the stage for a soggy showdown between familiar foes Sovereignty and Journalism. Will one of them rise to the occasion, or will the upstart Baeza splash into the spotlight with a breakout performance?
