Turf Veterans Highlighted in Man O'War Stakes
By: John Caro, S. FL ThoroFan Member
Another
big money race at Belmont to start this season and some fine older veterans
going hard on the inner turf.
There
are many who have the class and back class to be a top pick for this one but,
I’m going to point to a horse that has been the distance five times and won or
placed at each asking, #6 Call Provision
as a second choice. Clearly, he does not race at the same level often but,
his last out against my second pick, #9 One
Go All Go shows he can be competitive in this level.
Of
course, the old warrior, #2 Sadler’s Joy,
has to be in the ticket with his class and history along with #8 Big Picture with his Belmont record
and he’s always trying.
Finally,
there is #7 Hi Happy, last out winner
in the Pan Am as a well rated leader who can cut good fractions. I think he may
have his hands full on the lead with #3
Scholar Athlete but, his distance experience should hold him up. The rest
are all worthy of a look though I believe these are the guys who can get it
done at the finish.
I’m
betting a low-cost bet today and saving some shekels for next Saturday. If it
stays on the turf the bets should look like this:
$1 Superfecta: 7 with
6,9 with 2,6,9,8 with All - $36
$3 Exacta: 2,7,8,9 with
6 - $12
Off
the turf…
$4 Exacta: All with 8,9
- $48 (or less depending on the scratches)
